Chiang Mai Airport

Chiang Mai Airport is one of the 5 Airports in Thailand run by the Airports Authority of Thailand (AOT). Chiang Mai airport has 2 Terminals, Domestic and International, located in the same building. Chiang Mai International Airport is located about 4km SW from the centre of Chiang Mai, just off the Chiang Mai – Hang Dong Superhighway.

Travel time to or from the city centre is about 15-20 minutes. More than 2 million passengers a year are handled by Chiang Mai airport which has a capacity of 24 flights per hour. Currently (2009) there are 10 Airlines offering Chiang Mai flights, either domestic or international.

Arrival Notes

Unless you have made a prior arrangement with your hotel you will need transport into the city. There is a Limousine booking counter where you can arrange transport into Chiang Mai, and a Licensed Taxi service. Car Rental services are also available. There is no conventional taxi rank at Chiang Mai Airport. Unlicensed Taxis and Tuk Tuks are not allowed unless delivering passengers. Motor Cycle rental is not available at Chiang Mai Airport. In addition, there is a Public Bus (Route 4) but you should check first if it is going in the direction you require as it follows a fixed route.
