Thai Visa
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009A Thai Visa is required by foreigners to enter the Kingdom of Thailand. Thai Visa exemptions to this rule are as follows:
1. Foreign Nationals of the following Countries will be allowed to enter The Kingdom of Thailand without a Visa and to stay for up to 30 days for the purpose of Tourism unless they enter via a land border crossing from a country adjoining Thailand in which case they will be allowed to stay for a period not exceeding 15 days with the exception of Malaysian citizens who will be allowed to stay for a period not exceeding 30 days if they enter Thailand overland from Malaysia.

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009Thailand Time is 7 hours ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). Thailand Time is not adjusted for Daylight Saving Time and the whole of Thailand is in the same time zone which is Indochina Time (ICT), GMT+7. Whilst Thailand does use the 24 hour clock, in conversation time is usually referred to by using the traditional system of Thailand Time
Thai Money
Saturday, October 31st, 2009Thai money is called “Baht” (฿), sometimes written “Bath”. Thai money is available as banknotes, 1000, 500, 100, 50, 20 and 10 Baht (Rare) and also as coins, 10, 5, 2 and 1 Baht. You may also come across Satang. ( 100 Satang = 1 Baht). Satang are rarely used as they now have so little value but you may receive some in your change from Supermarkets and Department Stores who prefer to use Satang rather than round the prices up or down when calculating VAT.

Each of the Thailand Provinces is subdivided into Districts called Amphoe of which Thailand has 877. These Districts are again split into Sub-Districts called Tambon. In Bangkok the Districts (Amphoe) are called Khet.

The Thai Lottery is held twice a month, on the 1st and 16th. Thai Lottery tickets cost just 40 Baht each but are usually sold as a double ticket, costing twice the price. However, the sellers will add on their commission so a double ticket will cost you between 100 and 120 Baht.
