Bungy Jump – X Centre – Chiang Mai » Thai Guide To Thailand

The X Centre is an x-treme sports centre in Chiang Mai and of all the activities they offer none are more extreme than the Bungy or Bungee Jump. The sign at the foot of the 50 meter high tower says it all, “Come here if you Dare”. Our intrepid photographer, Oak, did not really need much persuading to agree to do a Bungy Jump for us.

Actually, he was more concerned that we would damage the cameras than he was of doing the jump. The Bungy Jump at the X Centre is situated in a very picturesque location with a small lagoon below the jump point. We are not sure if the water is an extra safety measure or not but Oak had nothing to worry about as the X centre have a faultless safety record since they opened the first jump in 1992. All the staff at the Bungy Jump are trained to New Zealand standards and are overseen by a certified Jump Master. After our photographer Oak had weighed in (the staff really do try to avoid giving you a swim after the jump by finely adjusting the tension of the cord although if you ask nicely they will oblige and adjust things so that not only will you be terrified but also soaking wet!. ) and completed all the necessary paper work, which he told us did not include making a Will, he was ready to ascend in a lift to the top platform. Meanwhile we were frantically trying to find out how to use the cameras as we were not certain we could cajole Oak into making a 2nd jump if we got it wrong.
