Bie The Star was born Sukrit Wisetkaew on the 4th September 1985 in Chiang Mai. Bie The Star is now one of the best known Thai Pop singers and also has a career as a TV actor. I Need Somebody was his debut hit in October 2006. Sukrit’s nickname Bie comes from the Northern Thai word for a dragonfly “Gumbie”. Bie The Star has an older sister named “Mengpor” which is the Central Thai word for a dragonfly.
It was during his college days in 2006 that Bie decided to enter a TV Talent Contest called The Star 3. Whilst he did not win this contest ( he was runner up to the eventual winner “R The Star” ) he became an almost overnight success and signed a contract with GMM Grammy. After the release of his 1st Album “Love Scene”, he followed up with his 2nd album “I love You Too” in 2008 which, with two No.1 hits, became one of the best selling Grammy albums of the year. In 2008, Bie The Star was named both “Singer of the Year” and “Popular Artist of the Year” and his 1st concert was sold out within 2 days. Bie The Star’s latest album is “Its alright” released in 2010.
In addition to his singing career, Bie The Star has starred in several TV Drama Series as well as a TV Sitcom named Nut Kub Nut. In spite of his whirlwind career, Bie The Star has still found time to work on Public Health, Community and Environment projects and was voted in 2008 as “one of the most influential people in Thailand”.
At the age of 25, Bie ordained as a Buddhist Monk for 10 days at Wat Intaram, a Thai Temple in Nakorn Sri Ayuthaya.
